Drydocks World Secures Landmark FLNG Conversion and Newbuild Contracts
Drydocks World has secured a significant new contract from Amigo LNG, a joint venture between Texas-based Epcilon LNG and Singapore-based LNG Alliance. The agreement covers the conversion of two LNG carriers into Floating Storage Units (FSUs) and the construction of two newbuild Floating LNG (FLNG) barges at Drydocks World’s shipyard in Dubai.
Scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2028, the four-vessel floating LNG facility will deliver more than 4.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of liquefaction capacity, making it the largest development of its kind anywhere in the world.
Capt. Rado Antolovic, CEO, Drydocks World, commented: “This contract represents a major milestone for Drydocks World and Dubai. With our expertise in complex offshore conversions and large-scale newbuilds, we are setting new global benchmarks for floating LNG solutions. At the same time, this project reinforces Dubai’s position as a hub for advanced maritime engineering that powers global trade and the energy transition.”
The FLNG project will be executed using a modular build strategy to ensure precision fabrication, seamless system integration and pre-commissioning in a controlled environment. According to Drydocks World, this method guarantees higher quality standards, shorter delivery times and a lower environmental footprint.
With more than 10 major LNG and FSRU conversion projects already completed, Drydocks World is further cementing its position as a global leader in floating LNG technology and offshore engineering solutions.
