PSA Marine Qalhat, a joint venture between PSA Marine and Golden Dunes International, has reached an important milestone. Since January this year all 51 of its marine crew members are Omani, achieving the 100% Omanisation target much quicker than originally anticipated. This has been achieved, the company says by PSA Marine Qalhat focusing on training and developing the local workforce.
PSA Marine Qalhat provides towing and other marine services to Oman LNG, with a fleet of four ASD tugs. When it commenced operations in January 2015, around 50% of its crew were Omanis. Following a comprehensive upskilling programme, 100% Omanisation has been achieved in only three years.
Captain Russel Turnbull, Oman LNG’s Marine services manager, says, “This achievement demonstrates how, working closely alongside our business partners, we can achieve great results, which sends a positive message to the wider community.”
