Prism Logistics Expands Heavy Lift Barge Fleet in Abu Dhabi
Prism Logistics has expanded its marine operations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region with the deployment of its first 250-class flat top deck cargo heavy lift barge, now operational in Abu Dhabi waters. Designed for transporting heavy loads on international sea routes, the vessel marks a significant milestone in the company’s offshore logistics growth strategy.
Three additional barges — a 230-class, 300-class and 330-class barge — are scheduled to join Prism’s Abu Dhabi-based fleet in the coming months, further enhancing the company’s capacity to handle complex marine cargo projects across the GCC and beyond.
“Investing in top-tier maritime assets allows us to ensure seamless cargo movement, regardless of volume or destination,” the company said in a statement, reaffirming its commitment to delivering turnkey logistics solutions throughout the GCC and global markets.
Since its establishment over 25 years ago, Prism Logistics has successfully executed more than 1000 projects across various industries, including oil and gas, petrochemicals, civil construction, bulk material, mining, power and renewables.
Recent milestones include the safe multimodal transport of 34 specialised out-of-gauge/dimension (SODC) units, with a combined weight of 13,000 tonnes, from Hazira, Dahej and Mangalore to Pachpadra in Barmer, Rajasthan. The cargo comprised packages up to 60 m long, 10 m high and wide, and weighing more than 1000 tonnes.
Prism Logistics was also awarded a challenging multimodal transportation contract to deliver SODC packages to a refinery site in northern India. This included three vacuum gas oil (VGO) reactor modules weighing over 2000 tonnes. The project required the construction of roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) jetties at Hazira and Kandla ports, followed by road transport from Kandla to the final destination in Panipat.
Prism Logistics has expanded globally over the past year, and now has offices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Italy, as well as in India.
