Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) has signed a long-term agreement with Marafi, the port management arm of the ASYAD Group, to provide bunker fuel services at the berths and anchorage areas of Port Sultan Qaboos. The initiative is part of OOMCO’s strategy for expanding its bunker supply operation across the Sultanate.
Mainly serving navy vessels and cruise ships, the license awarded to OOMCO by Marafi is the first of its type to be awarded at the port. “We are pleased to be working with Marafi and supporting them as they develop the port into an international hub,” said David Kalife, Chief Executive Officer, OOMCO. “We also look forward to continuing developing our marine business.”
Currently, OOMCO is also the only licensed fuel supplier in the Port of Duqm, where it is in the process of building storage facilities, including a bunker fuel terminal. The company says it aims to expand further on a regional basis over the next few years and become one of the top five marine fuel marketers in the GCC by 2025.
