Asyad expands into Central Asia with Uzbekistan acquisition
Oman’s Asyad Group has acquired a controlling stake in a number of key logistics platforms in Uzbekistan, marking its direct entry into one of Central Asia’s fastest-growing logistics markets. The transaction, executed in partnership with Orient Group and Uzbek-Oman Investment Company (UzOman), is expected to connect Oman’s ports and logistics infrastructure to Central Asian trade corridors.
The acquisition secures Asyad’s ownership of a number of key businesses, including Universal Logistics Services (ULS) and Highway Logistics Center (HLC). These assets account for approximately 25% of Uzbekistan’s rail container traffic and have a dominant share in the premium warehousing segment. By integrating these inland multimodal terminals into its global network, Asyad says it is establishing the operational infrastructure needed to link Central Asian cargo flows directly to Oman’s ports.
According to Abdulrahman Salim Al Hatmi, Group CEO of Asyad Group, “This strategic investment marks a pivotal advance in our global expansion journey, establishing our operational foothold in Central Asia and creating a direct logistics bridge between Oman and the region’s fastest-growing markets. By securing ownership of key dry port assets in Uzbekistan, we are now uniquely positioned to integrate rail and road transport, warehousing, customs clearance, and last-mile delivery with our port operations in Oman.”
