Oman Drydock Company (ODC) has signed an agreement with Gurdesan of Turkey for the latter to establish a specialised workshop within the Duqm shipyard. The new facility will carry out repair and maintenance work on deck machinery as well as propulsion and steering systems, windlasses, cranes and rescue boat and life raft davits. Having the facility on site is expected to enhance ODC’s competitive position both regionally and globally.
Recent weeks have seen a number of notable projects get underway at ODC. Visitors have included the Greek-owned oil tanker Samurai, for Dynacom, and Deniz Shipping Company’s tanker, Palomar. The yard is also working on the LPG carrier, Gas Infinity, in a project that will involve 180 tonnes of steel renewal.
