Reflecting its ongoing commitment to support seafarer health and wellbeing, Dubai-based Tomini Shipping has opened a new training centre in Mumbai. The new facility is dedicated to providing classroom training for seafarers on Tomini’s fleet of bulk carriers.
In an official opening ceremony in December, the training centre was inaugurated by the Managing Director of Tomini Shipping, Pradeep Bajpai, in the presence of guests from the maritime industry, Tomini staff and other stakeholders.
Tomini Shipping’s training centre is intended to help keep its seafarers’ knowledge ahead of regulatory developments, particularly those related to safety procedures and environmental sustainability, through a wide range of courses and training programs. The new centre, headed by Capt. Sudhir Nayyer, who has previously commanded Tomini vessels and has detailed knowledge of the company’s safety and quality management systems, will also deliver training in emergency response and advanced technical developments. The company adds that it believes that “challenges in the maritime industry can be overcome with the proper training of our people.”
