
APM Terminals group’s Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) in Jordan has named Harald Nijhof as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will succeed Soren Jensen, who has led the company for the past two years.
Nijhof has had an impressive career in the maritime industry and brings over 30 years of knowledge and experience to his new position. With a career spanning over three decades, including spells at Nedlloyd, P&O Nedlloyd and Maersk Line, before joining APM Terminals in 2020, Nijhof has worked in the UK, India, Denmark, Spain, Singapore, and South Africa. According to APM Terminals, “This rich background has equipped him with a broad perspective and invaluable insights into global maritime operations.”
Most recently Nijhof has served as APM Terminals’ Head of Operations Execution, based at the company’s headquarters in The Hague, where his expertise and insights are said to have positively impacted APM Terminals’ initiatives to enhance global operations.
Speaking at his appointment to the new role, Nijhof said he looked forward to continuing ACT’s growth and development, and contributing to Aqaba’s future vision. He added, “Together, we will reach new milestones in our aspiration to become a green trade hub for Jordan. We will focus on delivering an unparalleled port experience, fostering community prosperity in Aqaba and its surroundings, and further solidifying ACT’s position as the leading trade hub in the Levant region and beyond.”
