Milaha’s summer training programme is targeting Qatari university students currently enrolled in universities in Qatar and abroad and studying maritime, engineering, finance, and business administration-related subjects, in addition to students from Qatar Technical School. A total of 24 students will be taking part in this year’s programme, having been introduced to Milaha through various job fairs and initiatives that the company has recently launched as part of its effort to engage with the local community and maintain its Qatarisation drive.
Milaha’s president, Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, said: “As Qatar’s first commercially-registered shareholding company, we feel that we have an additional responsibility to set an example to other companies by contributing to our community and becoming an employer of choice that attracts and retains the brightest Qatari talents. One of the ways we give back to our country is ensuring that our young Qatari generation gets the tools, experience, and support it needs to excel.”
The summer training programme at Milaha is held annually in June and July, and allows students to experience working across Milaha’s maritime and logistics businesses including port services, shipping agencies and other operations of the company. The programme aims to provide students with practical experience that complements their theoretical education and lasts 4-8 week.
