Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), one of the region’s leading providers of construction, repair and refit services for naval, military and commercial vessels, has launched two 64m long landing ships for the Kuwait Naval Force. These are part of a contract to build a total of eight naval ships to support Kuwait’s military capabilities.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark the occasion, Dr. Khaled Al Mazrouei, chief executive officer of ADSB, said, “We have prioritised this project as we are committed to supporting Kuwait’s Naval Force and enhancing our leadership in offering the best naval and marine services. We are proud of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense’s trust in our efforts to build five 16m landing crafts, a 42m landing ship, and two 64m landing ships. Five out of these eight craft were delivered before the set deadline, which is an enviable track record.”
For his part, Major-General Khaled Al-Kandari, Commander of the Kuwait Navy, delivered a speech in which he thanked the UAE Navy and ADSB for the achievement and their efforts and commitment to ensure timely delivery. Al-Kandari said: “We are proud of the professional cadres and skills in the GCC despite all the current challenges that they face.”
