DP World’s Jebel Ali Port recently shipped four large polyethylene reactors, the biggest weighing 227 tons, to Rotterdam in collaboration with the CMA CGM group. The shipment was handled with the help of a floating crane from Drydocks World, a DP World Company, and was loaded on two consecutive sailings. The execution of this project demonstrates the UAE port’s ability to meet the growing demand for heavy lift and project cargo, regardless of the size or weight, DP World points out.
One of the largest project cargoes loaded on a containership in the Middle East, the operation involved shipping 839 tons of cargo, measuring 35m in length, 7m in height and 7m in width, and occupying 424 TEU slots.
According to Romain Vigneaux, Dubai Agency General Manager, CMA CGM, “This shipment is a milestone achievement for Jebel Ali, and the container sector in the UAE. It testifies our expertise in shipping highly technical projects, while offering key advantages such as regular and reliable sailings with high-frequency and fast transit time.
