UAE-based Grandweld Shipyards has secured a contract to build four 41m Fast Support Vessels (FSIVs) for High Seas Marine (HSM) of Saudi Arabia. The delivery of the first vessel is expected to take place in April 2021, with the remainder following at two week intervals thereafter.
The FSIV design, the first of its type to be constructed anywhere, is to be built in line with the standards adopted by Saudi Aramco, and will be similar to prevailing offshore oil field regulations in the region. The order reflects strengthening market prospects in the offshore sector, marked by recovering prices and strong demand.
Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, which took place at Grandweld’s Dubai Maritime City shipyard, Ibrahem Al Saeed, HSM Managing Director, said, “HSM has built and developed a specific reputation, and ensuring the market remains satisfied with the services delivered to them is of the utmost importance. Grandweld’s provision of four new top-of-the-line FSIVs will assist in maintaining the company’s operational efficiency, as well as this distinctive recognition.”
