Dubai-based shipyard Grandweld has won a contract to design and build two 42m crew boats for Fujairah National Shipping Agency (FNSA). These will feature IMO Tier 2 compliant main engines and advanced navigation and communication equipment. Designed to meet the client’s specific needs, the vessels will be able to exceed a speed of 26 knots.
FNSA’s boats will benefit from luxury seating, VIP accommodation, a larger than usual deck space and enhanced levels of comfort for the crew. The crew boats will seat 31 offshore personnel, and have a 100m2 area for over 70 tons of deck cargo. The vessels are to be built at Grandweld’s yard in Dubai Maritime City, and will be flexible in operational terms. They will be capable of undertaking security duties as well as the transportation of offshore personal and cargo, and the supply of fuel, fresh water and other necessities to ships at anchorage.
FNSA is a subsidiary of Fujairah National Group, one of the leading shipping agents on the East Coast of UAE. The company has been owned by HH Sheikh Saleh Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi since 1982.
Continuing its success in building support craft, Grandweld Shipyards has recently completed the delivery of the four 42m aluminium crew boats to Cotemar of Mexico; these vessels are fitted with EPA Tier 3 compliant main engines and advanced navigation equipment, have a top speed of 26 knots, can seat 100 offshore personnel and can accommodate 90 tons of deck cargo. The vessels will operate in the Gulf of Mexico and will comply with the US Environmental Protection Agency requirements and US Coast Guard regulations.
