Fujairah Terminals has signed a MoU with United Steel Industries (USI), a leading manufacturer of rebars, rods and wire coils, which is expected to lead to the UAE port handling significant volumes of import and export shipments for the company. Fujairah Terminals will take steps to facilitate the required logistics support, allowing USI to benefit from Fujairah’sstrategic location to access markets in region.
Fujairah Terminals argues that the deal will provide USI with increased time efficiencies and ‘immense’costreductions, giving it a significant competitive advantage. By choosing to utilise Fujairah Terminals, USI will also be benefiting from a convenient location only few kilometers from its steel plant.
Fujairah Terminals is a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports and is now managing all of the UAE east coast port’s container, general cargo, ro-ro and cruise ship facilities. ADP is currently investing in both infrastructure and superstructure to enhance capabilities at Fujairah, including a major dredging programme to allow bigger ships to call here.
