Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMC) has started bunker operations using a fuel storage barge at Oman’s Port of Duqm, as it looks to expand ship-to-ship services in the region. The initiative should also help stimulate the growth of maritime services at the port.
OOMC says it has already delivered over 3,000 tons of bunker fuel oil to major customers in the Port of Duqm. Over the next few years OOMC plans to start a fully-fledged bunker supply facility at the Port of Duqm, as part of its long-term strategy to contribute to Oman’s national development strategy.
Reggy Vermeulen, Chief Executive of Port of Duqm, said, “As the engine of Oman’s long-term economic growth, it is imperative for us to identify the right partners that will propel our vision for the country forward. Together with Oman Oil Marketing Company’s new barge services, we are in a position to better serve the continuous flow of commercial and cargo vessels coming into our port.”
