Bahri Delivers SAR 940 Million Net Profit in H1 2025
The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), the Kingdom’s leading shipping and logistics provider, has reported strong financial results for the second quarter and first half of 2025.
Bahri posted a net profit of SAR 407 million in Q2 2025 and SAR 940 million for the first half of the year. Second quarter revenues rose 14% compared with the previous quarter to reach SAR 2.46 billion, though they were down 9% year-on-year. The quarter-on-quarter increase was driven by stronger freight rates and an increase in trading days across key business units, while the year-on-year decline reflected market stabilisation in chemicals and clean petroleum products shipping after a volatile period.
EBITDA for the first half reached SAR 2.30 billion, delivering a 50% margin. Bahri attributed this performance to strict cost discipline and stronger commercial results from its owned fleet of vessels.
Over the past 12 months, Bahri has added 19 vessels, bringing its total fleet to 103 ships. The company is leveraging the efficiency and capacity of its larger, younger fleet to reduce operating costs and protect profit margins. In particular, the Bahri Chemicals and Bahri Dry Bulk divisions have reduced reliance on leased vessels, enabling them to capitalise on higher demand with more profitable, owned tonnage.
Bahri has also invested in upgrading the environmental performance of its fleet. A key initiative has been the retrofitting of exhaust gas scrubbers, with 69% of its VLCC tanker fleet now equipped with exhaust gas cleaning systems, up from 38% a year earlier. These upgrades are reducing sulphur oxide emissions and ensuring compliance with international maritime environmental regulations.
