Many regional shipping and ports operators are battling against the impact of the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Saudi Arabia’s Bahri, one of the market leaders, has said that its operations continue without disruption as the company has taken “all the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its employees at its offices and onboard vessels.”
Bahri offices in Saudi Arabia and around the world are operating as normal, and all of the company’s liner shipping services are running to schedule. Abdullah Aldubaikhi, Chief Executive of Bahri, stresses: “The health and safety of our employees are of paramount importance to us and we have put in place many measures to prevent and mitigate infection and transmission of COVID-19. We will continue to closely monitor the situation to make necessary adjustments to our operations if required and safeguard the welfare of our people.”
In addition to implementing infection prevention and control measures, such as deep cleaning and the disinfection of office premises, Bahri has launched several internal and social media campaigns. These aim to raise awareness of the coronavirus disease and recommended measures and procedures among its employees.
The company has also recently made a donation of SAR 10 million to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health (MoH) to support its initiatives to fight against the spread of the coronavirus disease in the Kingdom. It also pledged to place its expertise, maritime fleet, logistics services, and offices around the world at the disposal of the Ministry, to help preserve public health.
