ASRY’s Offshore Division gears up for 200th project
The Offshore Division of Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) in Bahrain is on track to reach a major milestone with the delivery of its 200th offshore project in the first quarter of 2026, underlining the shipyard’s position as a leading drilling rig repair, upgrade, conversion and refit centre in the Gulf region.
ASRY is currently carrying out a wide range of offshore rig projects for major international clients including Valaris, ADES, Saipem, EDC and GDI, with strong demand from both returning and new customers. Over the past year several ADES jack-up rigs have undergone extensive work at ASRY, with ADM-501 and ADM-504 prepared for drilling operations in Nigeria, while upgrade works on ADM-503 and ADM-511 have recently been completed for upcoming drilling campaigns in Thailand and Brazil respectively.
Building on this success, ASRY plans to enter the market for Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) conversion projects in the coming year. “As we look towards 2026, we will be leveraging our strong track record to attract new business in the MOPU market,” says Dr Ahmed Al-Abri, ASRY Chief Executive Officer. “The expansion plan aims to capitalise on the increasing popularity of MOPUs in newly developed fields, driven by their flexibility and capability for faster oil production. It promises to be an exciting 12 months ahead.”
