ADNOC L&S Unveils UAE’s First Autonomous Offshore Vessel
Abu Dhabi-based ADNOC Logistics & Services has introduced the UAE’s first remotely operated landing craft, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s maritime innovation and offshore logistics capabilities. Developed in partnership with SeaOwl, the 60m vessel integrates advanced AI systems and satellite-linked remote-control technology, allowing it to be operated directly from ADNOC L&S’s control centre in Mussafah. The new vessel supports safer, more efficient and more sustainable offshore operations while strengthening ADNOC’s digital transformation strategy.
Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC L&S, said: “By advancing AI-powered remote vessel technology, we are enhancing safety, reducing emissions and driving cost efficiency across our offshore operations, while supporting both ADNOC’s and the UAE’s Net Zero goals.”
The vessel’s design removes the need for onboard crew accommodation, reducing overall weight, improving fuel efficiency and enabling continuous 24/7 operations. Its AI-enabled route optimisation system is projected to cut CO2 emissions by up to 30% compared to conventional crewed vessels, aligning with the UAE’s wider maritime sustainability ambitions.
Construction of two prototype vessels is expected to begin by the end of 2025, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. Following handover, the vessels will undergo sea trials and safety validation in UAE waters, paving the way for the future deployment of autonomous offshore support vessels across the region.
