AD Ports Orders Container Vessels for Caspian Sea Trade Routes
Baku Shipyard in Azerbaijan has secured a major contract from AD Ports Group for the construction of two shallow draft container vessels, each with a 780 TEU capacity, designed for operations on key trade routes across the Caspian Sea. This strategic investment will expand shipping capacity and strengthen supply chain reliability within the Caspian Sea region.
The two vessels are scheduled for delivery in late 2027, highlighting AD Ports Group’s long-term commitment to Central Asia and, in particular, Azerbaijan. While the exact deployment schedule has not yet been confirmed, AD Ports has indicated that the vessels will operate between the most important trading hubs in the Caspian Sea, supporting regional connectivity and economic growth.
In a further notable development, AD Ports Group has also begun rolling out Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services across its global fleet and terminal network. This initiative represents a key part of the Group’s digital transformation strategy, enabling vessels to access real-time operational data while ensuring resilient and always-on connectivity for ports and terminals. The adoption of LEO satellite technology is expected to deliver significant improvements in efficiency, sustainability and fuel savings.
