AD Ports Group Opens First Office in Islamabad to Boost Pakistan Projects
Abu Dhabi’s AD Ports Group has officially opened its first representative office in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, further strengthening its presence in the country’s maritime and logistics sector. Located close to Pakistan’s federal ministries, regulatory bodies and state-owned enterprises, the new office is expected to serve as a strategic hub for engaging with government stakeholders and advancing key infrastructure and trade projects that AD Ports Group is actively developing in the region.
The launch of the Islamabad office follows a series of significant investments in Pakistan, including a US$295 million commitment to develop and upgrade container, bulk and general cargo terminals at Karachi Port’s East Wharf.
AD Ports Group first entered the Pakistani market in 2022 through a 50-year concession to develop and operate container terminal berths 6–10 at Karachi Port’s East Wharf, in partnership with Kaheel Terminals. This was followed in 2023 by a second 50-year concession to develop and manage berths 11–17 for general and bulk cargo handling.
Alongside port operations, AD Ports Group has signed multiple strategic agreements aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s trade, logistics and maritime infrastructure. These include a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pakistan Board of Investment to explore the development of a dedicated industrial zone near Karachi Port and Port Qasim; a partnership with Pakistan Single Window to create a unified digital trade platform that streamlines customs and trade processes; collaboration with the Bahria Foundation to improve dredging, vessel pooling and marine services; and an initiative by Noatum Logistics, an AD Ports Group subsidiary, to establish a multi-modal logistics corridor linking Pakistan with Central Asia.
