PSA Mumbai Achieves Record Monthly Throughput in July 2025
In July 2025, JN Port Authority (JNPA) terminal operator PSA Mumbai achieved its highest-ever monthly container throughput volume of 231,000 TEU, a year-on-year increase of 36.8% compared with July 2024. PSA Mumbai’s Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) is now the leading container terminal at JNPA, India’s busiest container port, with a market share of around 35%.
The second-highest monthly container volume was handled by APM Terminals’ Gateway Terminals India (GTI), which moved 189,000 TEU, up by about 2% year-on-year. This was followed by Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT), which recorded 109,977 TEU in July 2025, a 10.4% increase compared with the same month in 2024.
GTI recently welcomed a major new container shipping service linking JNPA with the Far East. The China Subcontinent Express (CSX), operated by Emirates Shipping Line (ESL), provides direct sailings between key Chinese ports and the Indian Subcontinent. The service was officially launched with the maiden call of the 228m long, 4,636 TEU capacity vessel Zhong Gu Chang.
Overall, JNPA handled 668,336 TEU of containers and 8.51 million tonnes of total cargo in July 2025. These figures represent increases of 10.80% and 12.86% respectively compared to July 2024. The port’s total cargo throughput in fact set a new all-time monthly record.
