
Four New Container Services Launched at Jeddah Islamic Port
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the commencement of four new services connecting Jeddah Islamic Port with global markets. Asia Red Sea 2 (AR2), operated by Wan Hai Lines, has just started to call at the port with vessels up to 3700TEU capacity. The new service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with ten regional and global ports, including Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, and Shekou in China; Port Klang in Malaysia; Aqaba in Jordan; Sokhna and Alexandria in Egypt; and Izmit and Kumport in Turkey.
Meanwhile the new BOS service, operated by Blue Ocean, will provide connections to the Chinese ports of Qingdao, Ningbo, and Nansha, deploying container vessels with capacities of up to 2,300 TEU.
Additionally, the French carrier CMA CGM has started calling in Jeddah with its LRX service, offering sailings to four regional ports – Latakia in Syria, Iskenderun and Mersin in Turkey and Beirut in Lebanon. In this case vessels with capacities of up to 2,826 TEU will be utilised.
The fourth recently added service is the FRS1, operated by CStar Line. This operation is connecting Jeddah with Asian and regional ports, including Ningbo, Shanghai and Nansha in China, Aqaba in Jordan, and Ain Sokhna in Egypt, with vessels up to 2000 TEU size.
