Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has signed two classification contracts with leading Bangladeshi companies, Toggi Shipping & Logistics and Three Angle Marine. These new contracts add to the business wins IRClass has accumulated since it received the Recognised Organisation (RO) status from the Bangladesh Department of Shipping in 2017.
The contract with Toggi Shipping covers 12 self-discharging general cargo ships, with an option for an additional 12 sister vessels. The new ships are set to be deployed in the coastal waters of Bangladesh and are fitted with a conveyor system capable of discharging 300 tons/hour to allow the handling of cargoes at ports which are not equipped to do so.
The second contract with Three Angle Marine, a prominent ship builder in Bangladesh, includes two ro-ro vessels with a capacity of 100-150 vehicles and a 700 passenger capacity ferry.
“Being involved at an early stage of a ship construction gives us an opportunity to analyse our clients’ operational needs and provide suggestions to optimise and plan ahead to accommodate for future modifications. We work towards supporting our clients’ efforts to increase efficiency, profitability and sustainability and we are pleased with how our commitment in Bangladesh is being recognised,” commented Amit Bhatnagar, VP & Regional Manager – East Coast of India & Bangladesh of IRClass.
