Dubai shipyard, Drydocks World, recently held a steel-cutting ceremony to mark the start of production on the Jotun A FPSO turntable fabrication project for Bluewater Energy Services, with Vår Energi as the end client. This new turntable will be part of a Turret Mooring System (TMS) for the Jotun A FPSO vessel which will be permanently moored and operated in the Balder field in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea.
The turntable will be 24 m in diameter and 10 m high, weighing around 925 tons. Around 275,000 man hours of work will be required to complete the fabrication and testing works.
The scope of this fabrication project includes procurement, fabrication engineering, assembly, inspection, mechanical completion, testing and load-out of the turret turntable. The project is scheduled to be delivered by the middle of 2021.

Dydocks World Dubai is considered one of the few specialist yards worldwide that is capable of constructing such complex turrets.The Dubai yard has proven expertise, with seven turrets previously delivered, including the world’s largest to date.
