UAE-based Tomini Shipping has continued to rejuvenate and expand its fleet with the delivery and naming of three new 63,000dwt ultramax bulk carriers. The vessels- Tomini Entity, Tomini Felicity and Tomini Tenacity – were handed over on 7th January at the COSCO Shipping Hudong Shipyard, in Shanghai, China.
The delivery takes Tomini’s fleet size to 12 vessels, with an average age of only three years. The company’s ongoing newbuilding programme seeks to replenish the fleet with modern, eco-friendly ships. Nitin Mehta, CEO, adds, “We have confidence in the bulk carrier sector and remain committed to growing a diverse fleet to meet global transportation needs.”
Tomini has also recently opened a second crew management centre in India, in the city of Mumbai. This follows on from the launch of Tomini’s first centre in Delhi in January last year.
The new crew centre forms part of Tomini’s growth strategy based on investing in recruiting, developing and engaging the best maritime talent. Pradeep Bajpai, Head of Fleet Management commented, “As a business, our focus is on delivering consistently high-quality, engaged and motivated crew ensuring maximum vessel performance; a second office in Mumbai strengthens our capability to deliver on this vision.”
The company is now reportedly considering using its Mumbai and Delhi teams, and their accumulated years of expertise, as the basis for a new third-party ship management venture.
