
Saudi shipping company Bahri has signalled its intention to target the North American market with the opening of the second regional office, in Houston, America’s largest breakbulk and general cargo port. The investment is expected to further strengthen the position of Bahri Logistics (America), which has been operating out of Baltimore since 1992.
The new office was inaugurated by the Group’s chief executive Eng. Ibrahim Al-Omar, in the presence of Sultan Al Angari, Consul General of Saudi Arabia in Houston, Ricky Kunz, chief commercial officer, Port of Houston Authority, Wael Al-Sarhan, vice president, marketing and communications, Bahri and Steven Blowers, country manager, Bahri Logistics (America).
Highlighting the significance of the new office, Eng. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Group chief executive, Bahri, said, “Bahri is the leading direct ro-ro container liner service provider between the US and the Middle East. Through the port of Houston, the company offers its customers integrated transportation solutions and door-to-door cargo services, which makes the US-Middle East corridor one of the most important routes for Bahri.
“As a long-standing customer of the Port of Houston Authority, Bahri has been calling the port for nearly three decades. However, with its new Houston office, Bahri intends to further grow its presence in this important market. Bahri Logistics operates modern multipurpose vessels on a regular liner schedule, all designed to carry project, ro-ro, breakbulk and container cargoes.
