
The Dubai Maritime Virtual Cluster platform, under the umbrella of the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), drew strong interest from visitors to Nor-Shipping. A significant number of attendees sought out information about DMCA’s Smart Knowledge and Research platform highlighting the attraction of developing an integrated portfolio of maritime services for foreign direct investors in Dubai.
Amer Ali, Executive Director, DMCA, says he believes the initiative has provided an integrated framework to enhance the activities of the local maritime cluster. It has he points out promoted innovation, research, development and training, spreading best maritime practice within the local maritime sector, which currently embraces more than 7,400 companies operating 13,000 maritime activities.
The Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC) was a key part of the Dubai Maritime Cluster delegation to Nor-Shipping. “Representing the UAE under the Dubai Maritime Cluster is a clear message to the industry that the country is jointly working towards establishing the UAE as one of the leading maritime hubs in the world. This is our second time that we participate in this forum, and we feel that it is the perfect global arena for us to connect and engage with our existing and future stakeholders,” said Majid Obaid bin Bashir, Acting Chairman and Secretary General, EMAC.
