
The third annual The Maritime Standard Tanker Conference will take place on Tuesday, 16th October at the Atlantis hotel, the Palm, Jumeirah, Dubai, and a number of high level, and much respected speakers, have been confirmed already for the Keynote and headline Session 1 slots.
H.E. Sheikh Talal Al Khaled Al Sabah, chief executive officer of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) will give one of the two keynote presentations. He will reflect on the recent and likely future trends affecting the tanker markets in the region, and will also update on KOTC’s ongoing investment programme. The company has recently placed orders for a series of new ships and the audience will clearly be keen to hear more about this important newbuilding initiative.
He will be followed on the podium by Abdullah Bin Damithan, chief commercial officer of DP World, UAE region. The group is a major player in several key commodity trades, including the petrochemicals markets, and also has key insights into local economic trends. Abdullah Bin Damithan will set the scene from a Dubai perspective into this vital market for the UAE economy.
Speakers confirmed for Session 1, which has the theme ‘Tanker trades – building a case for greater optimism’ include Abdulkareem Al Masabi, chief executive of ADNOC Logistics and Services; Khamis Juma Buamim, managing director and group chief executive, Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC and Tarik Al Junaidi, chief executive, Oman Shipping Company SAOC. These speakers will look at a number of topics including the demand-supply balance relating to deep sea tanker trades; the effects of investments being made in downstream petrochemicals industries within the region on tanker shipping; the benefits in-house tanker management; and the prospects for deep sea and coastal tanker trades.
