The Maritime Standard Tanker Conference is taking place in Dubai on 16th October 2018 at the Atlantis, the Palm, Dubai. Preparations are gathering pace and some high level speakers have now been confirmed for Session 2, which looks at support infrastructure and services and how investment in these areas can provide a platform for tanker shipping growth and development.
This session will be chaired by Captain Jitendra Misra, managing director of Emarat Maritime and a leading light of the UAE Shipping Association. He says, “What I like about The Maritime Standard is that they finalise and publish the conference details, including the agenda and speakers, well in advance, so delegates know what to expect. On top of that, with a high profile line up of speakers, delegates not only get to hear and learn from the best in the business, but are also very sure of getting quality networking opportunities, which is very important.”
Other esteemed speakers confirmed for this session include Petros Doukas, former Greek Finance Minister and chairman of Capital Partners; Ali Shehab, deputy chief executive of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC); Gaurav Moolwaney, executive director, Standard Chartered Bank; Captain David Stockley, chief operating officer, of Oman Shipping Company; and Rajiv Agarwal, chief executive of Essar Ports.
These speakers will address a number of important topics including the need for investment in green technology; the future of the financial services sector with regards the tanker shipping business; the benefits of having in-house ship management capabilities and how India’s economic growth is creating opportunities for deep sea and tanker trades.
Already the speakers are enthused about the prospect of presenting their thoughts and opinions to the audience. Petros Doukas says. ”I am honoured to have been asked to be a speaker once again. Attending last year’s conference was truly an ideal experience, both as a presenter and as a member of the audience. I would strongly recommend all businesses involved in the tanker and petrochemicals sector to attend.”
Captain David Stockley is also looking forward to the chance to share his many years of experience at the event.”I have learned a lot from the industry so the feeling that I can give something back is very rewarding,” he says. “If you like being in a room full of people who, like you, are willing to take time away from the office to learn something new, then you must attend this conference.
