
The inaugural TMS Transportation and Climate Change Conference (TACCC) is set to take place on the 27th of September at the Saadiyat Rotana Resort in Abu Dhabi, featuring an impressive lineup of industry leaders. This event aims to convene stakeholders from across the transportation industry to address critical issues surrounding carbon emissions reduction and environmental sustainability in the years to come.
The opening Keynote session, to be introduced by renowned Sky News host Yalda Hakim, will showcase influential figures in shipping, maritime, and land and air transportation. Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, representing the hosts, will deliver the opening keynote address, setting the stage for an engaging and informative day.
Following the keynote address, Session 1, themed “Tackling Transportation’s Contribution to Climate Change – Setting the Course for a Sustainable Future,” will feature presentations by senior executives driving change in their respective sectors. Esteemed speakers in this pivotal session include Capt. Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC Logistics & Services; James Frew, Global Head of Business Advisory- Decarbonisation Lead at Lloyd’s Register; Eng. After a Q&A session and lunch, Session 2, chaired by industry luminary Sanjay Mehtha, will focus on the vital role of ports and logistics in achieving climate change targets. The lineup of speakers includes Capt. Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of Maritime Cluster & SAFEEN Group at AD Ports Group; Emile Hoogsteden, CEO of Sohar Industrial Port Company; Matthew Luckhurst, Managing Director of APM Terminals Bahrain B.S.C; Jonathan Andrews, CEO of Steamship Mutual; Antonio Campoy, CEO of Noatum Group; Gonzalo Conseco, Director Research & Development, Onepoint5 & Former Senior Advisor to the Secretariat of the UNFCCC; Mohammad Jaber, Managing Director, DSV Air & Sea Abu Dhabi & COO DSV Solutions Abu Dhabi; and Carlos Guerrero Pozuelo, Global Market Leader for Gas Carriers & Tankers at Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore. The event will conclude on a high note with Session 3, focusing on “Sustainable Shipping and Maritime – Navigating the Operational, Technological, Legal, and Financial Hurdles to Change.” Moderated by leading maritime lawyer Rania Tadros of Stephenson Harwood, confirmed speakers include Emil Pellicer, General Counsel of AD Ports Group; Nitin Mehta, Chief Operating Officer, Lila Global; Ravi Jawani, Partner at Fichte & Co; Farooq Zuberi, CFO of APM Terminals Bahrain B.S.C; Hamed Fathi, Director & Head of Legal, IME Group; and Vijay Arora, Managing Director of Indian Register of Shipping.
