It is over six years since The Maritime Standard published its first ever edition, on 1st June 2014. The online newsletter has since appeared every fortnight, keeping readers abreast of market developments, breaking stories, and spreading news of technical innovations, significant investments, and executive insights. This issue is in fact the 150th to be published and we are delighted to celebrate this milestone with our loyal supporters.
Trevor Pereira, managing director, says, “I have to thank our readers and advertisers, without whom we would not have got this far, and to pay tribute to the entire TMS team for getting to the 150 issue landmark. They have combined to make the newsletter such a success in distributing vital market knowledge direct into the inboxes of 70,000 subscribers across not just the Middle East and subcontinent but increasingly worldwide.”
While the industry provides TMS with many stories, often calls by Trevor and Clive to a network of contacts have made them a TMS exclusive, adding more to the content, giving it greater value and feel. Trevor says, “We’ve managed to create a newsletter with great value that gives the industry a voice and a platform. We are proud to have made it the number one shipping and maritime newsletter in only just over six years.”
The level of interest the newsletter has generated, and the requests it gets for exclusive stories, has assisted TMS with its other projects, including the TMS Awards, the UAE Yearbook and the conferences, Tanker Shipping and Ship Finance and Trade. The involvement with the market through TMS newsletter creates synergies for other activities, boosting their collective profiles.
Clive Woodbridge, TMS editor, says, “The 150 issues have gone by so quickly, but it is good to know we have made an impression. I have enjoyed my time writing the newsletter as it keeps me in contact with a fast developing market in a way that also helps bring together the region’s maritime sector. I look forward to celebrating a double century in 2022!”
