The UAE Government has decided to align the working week and weekend to international norms. Like most private sector companies The Maritime Standard will implement the change, which it views positively and supports, as it will be bringing the country into line with most major shipping and maritime markets.
Consequently, TMS will adopt a Monday to Friday working week, with effect from Monday 3rd January 2022 with the weekends falling on Saturdays and Sundays. Managing director, Trevor Pereira, says, ”This is a welcome initiative as it will make it a lot easier to communicate with, and cater for the needs of, our international clients who have a Monday-Friday working week. We will be making some minor adjustments to our publishing and events timetables to reflect the change.”
He adds, “I would like to wish all our readers, advertisers, sponsors and supporters a very Happy New Year and to thank them for allowing us to bring the industry together not just once but twice in these challenging Covid times. The chance to meet face to face was something that we were all looking forward too and it was a pleasure to facilitate networking and interaction on such a much needed scale.”
TMS has continued to put on a full portfolio of publications and events in 2021 despite the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic, including the fortnightly newsletter, which will celebrate its 200th edition in 2022, as well as the UAE Yearbook, TMS Awards and Tanker conference. In 2022 there will be an addition to this list, with the first the Maritime Standard Transportation & Climate Change conferences scheduled to take place over the summer. Further details will appear in the newsletter shortly. So watch this space!
