
Excitement is building in anticipation of the second annual Maritime Standard Awards and Gala Dinner. The event being held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline Group and hosted by Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit, will take place on November 9th at the splendid Atlantis the Palm. The list of finalists has now been released.
Managing director Trevor Pereira says, “We had many more entries, and of a higher quality than last year, and some categories, including Technology & Innovation, Safety and Security, Training and Education and Green Shipping attracting an especially high number of submissions. As a result the judges had a tough job reducing the entrants down to a shortlist, but we are now ready to reveal who the finalists are.”

In total there are 17 awards that are in the gift of the judging panel. In addition there are 8 which are special awards presented for specific achievements. The winners of these, and the other awards, will be revealed on the 9th November.
Chairman of the judging panel, Clive Woodbridge, editor of The Maritime Standard, says, “It was hard to produce the list of finalists as almost all the entries were very well thought out and demonstrated how much innovation and leadership there is within the industry in this region.
