The Maritime Standard Awards 2021, which will take place on Monday November 22nd at the World Trade Centre Dubai, are all set to be the biggest event of its kind taking place anywhere in the world this year.
This will be the eighth staging of the Awards and like all the others they have received strong support from the highest levels of the UAE leadership. It can be confirmed that The Maritime Standard Awards 2021 will be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman Emirates Airline and Group, continuing his steadfast backing of the event from the very beginning.
Trevor Pereira, Managing Director of The Maritime Standard, says, “We are honoured and delighted to receive patronage from His Highness once again. This year The Awards have received a record number of nominations and the ballroom is sure to be full. The success of these Awards shows that the world is slowly coming around to the idea of meeting in person again and Dubai is resuming its rightful place as one of the world’s top shipping and maritime hubs.”
The Awards will be attended by hundreds of dignitaries and high-level executives from across the maritime industry. The caliber and status of those attending is unrivalled, and the occasion offers extensive networking opportunities, as well as the chance for industry recognition.
The evening will witness the presentation of around 30 different awards, covering different aspects of the maritime industry, as well as special awards for individual achievement. An experienced, expert and independent judging panel ensures that only the ‘best of the best’ are shortlisted and that the eventual winners are fully deserving of the accolade.
Clive Woodbridge, TMS editor and chairman of judges, says, “The Awards bring together the very best of shipping and maritime and this year the nominations have far exceeded anything we have experienced before, both in terms of quantity and quality. The companies shortlisted cover the whole range of shipping and maritime businesses and the finalists span many different nationalities. So, these Awards are now truly international in scope with a global profile to match.”
The Awards are always hosted by well-known personalities, and 2021 will see a ‘second coming’ for the top impressionist and entertainer Jon Culshaw who compered the event very successfully in 2019 and is coming back by popular acclaim. The following day, November 23rd, The TMS Tanker conference will be held at the same venue, with all the major players in the tanker shipping industry taking part. This will, like last year, be run as a hybrid event, with people in the ballroom being joined virtually by participants and speakers from around the world who will take part online. Conference chair, Clive Woodbridge says, “The tanker business is at an interesting moment as global economies recover from the impact of lock downs. There are huge opportunities, but also big challenges that need to be faced, and the stellar panel of speakers we have assembled will illuminate the likely scenarios and leave attendees with a clearer view of future prospects.”
