
In line with its role as the first Arab classification society, developing standards and specifications in the field of maritime navigation, and issuing compliance and inspection certificates for ships and maritime facilities, the Emirates’ Classification Society, Tasneef, recently sent a delegation to Egypt to introduce its technical and consulting services to the local maritime market.
Eng. Rashed Al Hebsi, chief executive of Tasneef said, “We will do our part in transferring knowledge and world-class expertise in the field of maritime classification in the Arab world.” Tasneef’s visit to Egypt included meetings with Dr. Mohamed Al-Twaijri, Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs at the Arab league; Engineer Hani Dahi, the Egyptian Minster of Transport; Dr. Mohamed Amin, Assistant to the Minster of Sea Transport Vice-Admiral Tarek Ghoniem Abd Al-Motaal; Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety, Vice-Admiral Mostafa Ibrahim Amer; Chairman of the General Authority for River Transport Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar; President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Sea Transport along with Sheikh Dr. Sabah Jaber Al Aly, Head of the Arab Sea Ports Federation.
Captain Waleed Al Nahdi, marketing and commercial director at Tasneef, highlighted the positive aspects of this visit and its role in strengthening Tasneef’s position in the Arab world. He said, “Through the support of the Arab league, we aim to get the recognition of all Arab countries which will contribute to accelerating the process of joining the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). We’re also seeking to establish a regional office for Tasneef in Egypt.”
