
The first TMS Golf Classic held on 15th March at the Trump International Golf Club in Dubai proved to be a hugely successful event with guests from across the industry enjoying a fabulous day mixing golf, good company, entertainment, and tremendous food. In total the event attracted 80 golfers and a further 30 executives attended the dinner.
The guest of honour was H.E. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director, DMCA, who joined the guests at the dinner and handed over the prizes himself.
The prize giving ceremony at the end of the evening saw a number of teams and individuals pick up trophies. The ’Gone Fishing’ trophy was awarded to Sherif Azzam; the ‘Nearest to the pin’ Award was scooped up by Julian Skyrme of Abu Dhabi Ports; the ‘Along the rope’ winner was Ramesh Nagaraju from Bahri; the ‘Longest Drive’ Award was picked up by Dheeraj Sharma from Lloyd’s Register; and the Runners Up trophy with a score of 58.5 went to Tim Wickman, Vijay TR, David Casey and Sunil Gangadharan. The winning team at the TMS Golf Classic with a score of 53.1 was Ulrik Ostegaard of Monjasa, Vic Tsaw of Wan Hai Lines Ltd, Gareth Madson from Maersk and Shiraz Sethi from Dentons, who lifted the inaugural winners’ trophy.
TMS managing director Trevor Pereira said: “It was a fabulous day, with pristine greens, skilful golf, fantastic camaraderie and great networking all rounded off by a lovely dinner and prize giving. We are planning to make it an annual event so hopefully we will be able to bring the industry together through golf again next year.”
A fine line up of industry partners supported the event and they include IRI/The Marshall Islands Registry, Abu Dhabi Ports, ADNOC Logistics & Services, Saifee Ship Spare Parts & Chandlers, JOME Engineering, Islamic P&I Club, Monjasa, ASCA Maritime, International Shipping & Logistics, Lloyd’s Register, Tomini Shipping and Sharjah Port Authority, also put on a range of activities at their designated holes, which added to the fun of the day.
