Representatives of the private and public sector attended the Maritime Advisory Committee meeting that discussed safety issues

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) recently hosted a meeting of the Maritime Advisory Committee, attended by stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. Key discussions were held around how to maintain the highest global maritime safety standards in Dubai’s territorial waters while also enhancing the readiness and responsiveness of newer maritime facilities.

Captain Khamis Weld Ghumail, Director of Maritime Traffic Management at DMCA, stressed the importance of the meeting as a platform for strengthening coordination and cooperation between the government and private sectors. “The meeting enabled us to identify important preparations of maritime facilities while reviewing and adopting the tasks of the Maritime Safety Committee. We were also able to tackle ways on how to further develop search and rescue procedures within the territorial waters of Dubai.”

The meeting further discussed various mechanisms that support efforts aimed at raising the level of maritime safety in Dubai’s territorial waters, as well as the importance of providing marine consultancy services to encourage offshore facilities to adopt best practice. Ways of linking up port related businesses with other maritime sectors to stimulate growth, development and sustainability of the local marine cluster were also highlighted.
