Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has launched a new maritime, trade and offshore practice group, combining the firm’s ship finance, shipping, offshore and trade and commodities expertise.
“Stephenson Harwood has a unique market position; what sets us apart is having both a premier ship finance and a premier shipping and offshore practice in one firm,” said Eifion Morris, Chief Executive. “Bringing together these areas of expertise, combined with our wider service offering, means that we can offer premium level support to any of our clients with interests in the industry.”
The new group, which is led by partner Dora Mace-Kokota, a maritime and offshore finance expert, brings together 56 partners and 97 lawyers from across eight offices around the world, including the UAE.
The firm has strengthened its ranks in recent months with the recruitment of new partners, Khurram Ali and Mohamed El Hawawy, in Dubai, Stuart McAlpine in London, and partner Paul Ho and his team in Hong Kong and Shanghai. In 2023, Saif Almobideen and Cathal Leigh-Doyle were promoted to the partnership in Dubai and London respectively.
In addition to Dora Mace-Kokota as practice group leader, Ian Mace becomes global head of maritime, trade and offshore finance while Rania Tadros has been named as Global Head of Maritime and Offshore alongside her role as Dubai office Managing Partner.
