SteelCorr, a Dubai-based company that uses AI-powered corrosion monitoring to support maritime asset integrity, has recruited two distinguished shipping technology and innovation veterans to its Strategic Advisory Board. Nakul Malhotra and Capt. Gordon Reilly will join the board as advisors to help shape and guide the strategic direction of SteelCorr, working closely with the leadership team.
Nakul Malhotra, Vice President Emerging Opportunities Portfolio – Maritime Services, Wilhelmsen group, brings over 25 years’ experience in the maritime sector including leadership positions in sales, operations, marine engineering and product management while Capt. Gordon Reilly is the former CEO and Director of OCS Services Group, a joint venture of BW Offshore. Capt. Reilly has been with the group since 1987 and helped establish its office in Mumbai, India.
Leroy Dias, Founder of SteelCorr said, “Our Digital Paint Report (DPR) app is an AI-powered corrosion monitoring solution that sends asset managers objective insights on corrosion trends. Timely action can help reduce steel renewal and extend the asset life. Over 80 ships used our app in 2021 and we have an ambition to lead the area of intelligent inspection and reporting. This is where Nakul and Gordon’s decades of experience can add real horsepower.”
In addition to corrosion trend data, paint application data, photos and videos can be shared with other stakeholders. Using paint only when necessary is also a relevant, though small step towards sustainability and lowering VOC release to the environment.
