
Preparations for the eighth annual The Maritime Standard Tanker Conference, which will take place on Wednesday 8th November 2023 at The Atlantis, the Palm, Dubai, are gathering pace. And the conference programme is packed with experts, all stars in their respective fields, who will give attendees the benefit of their expertise and know-how on the key topics of the day.
The opening Session 1, on “Setting green shipping strategy,” features senior executives from shipping, shipyard operations, ports, ship management, classification, and recycling. Already confirmed are Capt. Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC Logistics & Services; Dr Ibrahim Al Nadhairi, CEO of ASYAD Shipping & Drydock Services; Khalid Alhammad, President of Bahri Ship Management; Capt. Ammaar Al Shaiba, CEO, Maritime Cluster and SAFEEN Group, AD Ports Group; Mark Darley, COO of Lloyds Register; Dr Anil Sharma, CEO of GMS; Emile Hoogsteden, CEO, Sohar Port and Freezone; and Captain BK Tyagi, Chairman and Managing Director of the Shipping Corporation of India.
After lunch, Session 2 will cover “Tanker operations in an era of change” and this will focus on key operational issues facing tanker shipowners and operators, and the solutions available to them, both as a result of environmental regulatory changes, but also technology advances. Chaired by Ali Shehab, Global Director of Special Projects and Services, DNV, other speakers in this session include Yaman Al Hawamdeh, Managing Partner, HFW; Rajiv Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Essar Ports; Jamil Al Ali, Middle East Regional Commercial and Business Development Director, Bureau Veritas; Katherine Yakunchenkova, Regional Director, Middle East, Blue Ocean Maritime Management; and Chris Peters, Head of Sales and Purchasing, Montfort Investments.
This will be followed by Session 3 in the afternoon, which will have the theme of “Support services stepping up.” A range of speakers from diverse backgrounds have been lined up to highlight the importance of support services to the future of this sector. The conference will hear from Captain Amarjit Kauchhur, Vice President Middle East/Regional Director, International Registries (UK) Limited – Dubai Branch; Meera Kumar, President. Diabos; Nikeel Idani, IMarEST, UAE Branch; Cris Partridge, Managing Director, Myrcator Marine & Cargo Services; and Frederik Haentjens, COO of TankSkills.
