The inaugural call by the 1374 TEU container vessel Safeen Pride at Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait in mid-April marked the start of a new weekly service expected to improve connectivity and facilitate trade between the UAE and Kuwait. The vessel is part of the Safeen Feeders fleet and was welcomed by H.E. Dr Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the State of Kuwait, Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, Acting CEO of the Maritime Cluster and Safeen Group at AD Ports Group and Issa Abdullah Al-Mulla – Acting Director General of the Kuwait Ports Corporation.
This new route, which includes a ro-ro service, is part of AD Ports’ strategy for increasing throughput at Khalifa Port. Following recent acquisitions, AD Ports Group now controls the third largest independent feeder company globally, by volumes carried, with a total container capacity of 100,000 TEU, linking core markets in the Gulf, Indian Subcontinent, Red Sea and Turkey.
