India’s Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Limited, part of the Transworld Group of companies, has diversified its operations with the acquisition of its first bulk carrier vessel, the 2011-built 35,152 dwt TBC Kailash, to be renamed TBC Badrinath, for US$ 14.175 million. A second bulk carrier vessel is expected to be delivered shortly, taking Shreyas’ fleet to 13 ships in total, compressing 11 containerships and two bulkers.
Capt. Milind Patankar, Managing Director, says, “We are excited about this new acquisition and are confident of the growth potential of bulk carrier vessels. With this acquisition, we plan to leverage the company’s position in the industry as a leading diversified ship owner in India.”
This is Transworld group’s ninth bulk carrier in total and takes its combined fleet to 26 ships.
