In a further significant move for the Port of Duqm as it ramps up to being a full service facility, the port authority has initiated a tie up with UAE-based Middle East Fuji Khimji (MEFK) to offer a ship supplies capability for the first time. The Port has granted MEFK a non-exclusive license which entitles the company to provide ship chandlery-related services to vessels calling at Duqm.
MEFK is an established provider of ship chandlery and brings in professional expertise gained by its partners over several decades. The agreement in turn underlines the commitment of Duqm port to the trade by ensuring the local availability of prompt and professional marine services within the port complex.
Middle East Fuji Khimji Shipping was established in 2010 as a joint venture between Middle East Fuji of the UAE ‐ a member of the Fuji Trading Group of Japan – and Khimji Ramdas Group of Oman. As well as proving agency services to all ports in Oman, the company operates in Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah, Sharjah and Dubai.
