SGP Begins Operations at Four Saudi Multipurpose Terminals
SGP Multipurpose Terminals (SGPMP), a unit of Saudi Global Ports Group, officially began operations at four East Coast terminals – at King Abdulaziz Port Dammam, Jubail Commercial Port, King Fahad Industrial Port Jubail and Ras Al-Khair Port – on July 1st 2025.
The terminals, awarded under 20-year concessions by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) last month, serve key sectors of the domestic economy, including energy, petrochemicals, mining and construction. SGPMP says it will implement a series of safety and operational enhancements, modelled on earlier transformation projects in the port of Dammam and Riyadh Dry Port, supported by technical partner, PSA International, which has experience of operating multi-purpose terminals in Singapore.
Commenting on the start of SGPMP taking operational control at these facilities, the CEO of Saudi Global Ports Group, Rob Harrison, said: “We are grateful for the trust of Mawani, our customers and stakeholders as we continue to raise standards of the ports’ infrastructure and unlock more value for the ports and logistics ecosystem in the Kingdom. SGP has committed to investing over 700 million Saudi Riyals ( US$ 187 million) in the four multipurpose terminals and is proud to continue its strides towards being the gateway to growth on the Eastern Coast of Saudi Arabia.”
