Schmidt Middle East logistics, wholly owned by Schmidt Heilbronn, a world leader in dry bulk logistics, has started operations of a new logistics hub based in Khalifa Port Free Trade Zone (Khalifa Port FTZ) within Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD).
This multi-user hub, dedicated to chemical and petrochemical traffic, is offering services to clients in the UAE and the rest of the Gulf and will act as the company’s Middle East headquarters. Schmidt Middle East Logistics has leased about 22,000 m2 of land at Khalifa Port FTZ to store, handle and distribute various bulk materials including polyethylene, polypropylene, catalysts and additives for the chemical and petrochemical industry.
Schmidt Middle East has also recently launched a new facility in Bahrain, in addition to serving existing customers for onsite projects in Kuwait, Saudi, Qatar, and Oman.
The AED 20 million Schmidt ME Logistics facility at Khalifa Port FTZ comprises a warehouse providing about 2000m2 of storage, a silo battery containing nine silos, a tilting platform, a packaging line, a repair shop and a service station, as well as offices and social rooms. In addition, the facility offers truck transport and customs clearance services. Using its warehouse and silos, Schmidt ME Logistics will provide transport services for dry bulk products, packing dry bulk goods into maritime containers and managing overseas long haul and short sea transport to end user locations.
