Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports, has confirmed that Gerab National Enterprises, a stockist and supplier of seamless pipes, welded pipes and allied components, is to establish a fabrication facility, manufacturing unit and 3PL logistics site at the industrial zone, and nearby Khalifa Port, through three major projects.
Under the terms of recently signed agreements, Gerab will set up a business operated by its subsidiary, Quality International, on a 655,000 m2 plot at Kizad and Khalifa Port which includes a 172,000 m2 yard with direct waterfront access. It will also add a 212,000 m2 facility in Kizad and Khalifa Port for Flexigistic Logistics to create a multi-user 3PL facility. The third deal sees another subsidiary, Sanamat Flow Control, enhance its capabilities by setting up an integrated production facility.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, the chief executive of Abu Dhabi Ports, said: “We are delighted that Gerab Group has found Khalifa Port and Kizad’s competitive advantages so attractive that they have decided to enter into a number of new agreements with us to establish their operations here. The company is one of many major institutions that have chosen Kizad and Khalifa Port as a base for their regional operations due to our commitment to develop a world-class integrated industrial ecosystem that allows companies to collaborate and create innovative solutions.”
The focal point of the investment will be the establishment at Kizad of Quality International, a company that specialises in the manufacturing of process equipment such as pressure vessels, reactors, shell and tube heat exchangers and also large modules, tank farms and piping spools. The expansion in Abu Dhabi will reinforce the company’s existing facilities across the UAE, allowing it to take on substantially larger projects that require dedicated fabrication and berth space.
