Hong Kong-based OOCL will be strengthening its North Europe service connections with the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent by introducing two new Middle East / Indian Subcontinent – North Europe Services (IP1 and IP2) in June this year.
IP1 and IP2 will provide direct services between the Middle East, Pakistan, India, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, offering what is claimed will be more competitive and reliable services than using transshipment options. The changes also promise faster transit times from Middle East to Pakistan and India, while there will be two port calls in the UK in future.
Ports of call in IP1 will include Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Hazira, Mundra, King Abdullah, Gioia Tauro, Tangier, Southampton, Rotterdam, Antwerp, London Gateway and Le Havre, before returning to Karachi via King Abdullah and Djibouti ports. The service will be fixed day weekly and a round trip voyage will take 56 days.
IP 2 will start in Dubai’s Jebel Ali port and will connect Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Jeddah, Tangier, Rotterdam, Hamburg, London Gateway, Antwerp and Le Havre. OOCL points out that in addition the strategic hub in Jebel Ali will allow the carrier to further connect on a regional basis thereby offering further options for shippers. IP2 will also have a 56 day rotation and will call at ports on a fixed day weekly basis.
