Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has taken delivery of the 63,500 dwt ultramax bulk carrier, Jabal Shams, from Zhoushan Changhong Shipyard in China. The vessel is one of four sisterships due to be delivered to OSC in 2019, in response to growing customer demand. It follows the earlier delivery of another ultramax bulker, Jabal Almisht, in August. Both ships will operate under long term contracts.
The formal inauguration of Jabal Shams was carried out by Eng. Said bin Mohammed Al Massoudi, Chief Executive Officer of Sohar Aluminium, a strategic partner for Oman Shipping Company in the international dry bulk market.
The shipping arm of the ASYAD Group, OSC now operates a diverse fleet of 50 vessels. These include gas carriers, oil tankers and container vessels, as well as dry bulk ships.
