Muscat-based National Ferries Company (NFC) has started a high speed ferry service between Oman and Iran, with the first sailing on July 28th. The service, initially for passengers and light cargo, will connect Khasab with Queshm Island and Bandar Abbas.
There will be four weekly return trips on the route. Initially NFC has deployed its high speed catamaran, Al Halaniyat which offers capacity for 100 passengers and high levels of comfort. A larger vessel, with vehicle capacity, could be added in the future, if there is demand. According to the NFC sailing schedule, the ferry will leave the port of Khasab at 9:00am on Thursdays and return on the same day at 2:00pm. The second trip will be on Saturdays at 7:00am returning by 12:00 noon.
